St. Thomas is the busiest of the US Virgin Islands as it is a popular cruise ship destination.
The capital Charlotte Amalie, founded by the Danes in the 1600s, is a busy cruise-ship port. On the harbor, the 17th-century Fort Christian is now a local-history museum.
